I vaghi fiori e l'amorose fronde
e l'erba e l'aria altrui diletto danno.
Porgon riposo gli antri e piacer l'onde,
levano l'arme e gl'archi ogn'aspro affanno.
L'ombra soave al cor dolcezz' infonde;
fuggir le gravi angosce l'aure fanno.
Lasso me! che mia vita non restaura
fior frond' erb' aria antr' ond' arm' arch' ombr' aura.

The gracious flowers and the loving foliage
And the grass and the air give pleasure.
The caves give rest and the waves pleasure,
They take away weapons, arches and every harsh anguish.
The soft shadow infuses sweetness to the heart;
The breeze let bitter anxiety fleet.
Poor me!
Because my life doesn't recover
From flowers, foliage, grass, air,
caves, waves, weapons, arches,

Der zarte Schatten gießt Süße ins Herz;
Der Windhauch macht die schwermütigen Ängste fliehen.
Weh mir,
daß sie mein Leben nicht erneuern,
Die Blumen, Zweige, Gräser, Luft,
Höhlen, Wellen, Waffen,
Bögen und Schatten.

Urocze kwiaty, lube gaje, zioła,
świeżość powietrza - dla innych są błogie,
groty darzą wytchnieniem, a rozkoszą fale,
pierzchają niepokoje przed łukiem i mieczem,
łagodny cień do serca słodycz wsącza,
wietrzyki rozwiewają najdotkliwszy smutek.
O, jakżem nieszczęśliwy!
Mojego życia pocieszyć nie zdoła
ni kwiat, ni gaj, ni zioło, ni powietrza świerzość,
groty, fale, miecz i łuk,
ani cień, ani wiatr.
