Wyeth's Repository, Part Second, 1813

1. Come all that love my Lord and Master
And like old David I will tell;
Though chief of sinners, I found favor,
By grace redeemed from sin and hell.
Far as the east from west is parted,
So far my sins, by his dying love,
From me by faith are separated,
Blest antepast of joys above.

2. I late estranged from Jesus wandered,
And thought each dangerous poison good;
But he in mercy long pursued me,
With cries of his redeeming blood.
Though like Bartimeus I was blinded,
In nature's darkest night concealed;
But Jesus' kindness removed my blindness,
And he his pardoning love revealed.

3. Now I will praise him while he spares me,
And with his people sing aloud;
Though hell oppose and sinners mock me,
In rapturous songs I'll praise my God.
By faith I view the heavenly concert,
They sing high strains of Jesus' love;
O! with desire my soul is longing,
And fain would be with Christ above.

4. That blessed day is fast approaching
When Christ in glorious clouds shall come,
With sounding trumps and shouts of angels,
To call each faithful spirit home.
There’s Abraham, Isaac, holy prophets,
And all the saints at God's right hand;
There hosts of angels join in concert,
Shout as they reach the promised land.

Zion Songster, 1833

1. Come, ye that love my Lord and Master
And like king David I will tell;
Though chief of sinners, I found favor,
By grace redeemed from sin and hell.

2. Far as the east from west is parted,
So far my sins, by precious blood,
From me by faith are separated,
Blest antepast of the joys above.

3. I late a stranger from Jesus wandered,
And thought each dangerous poison good
But he in mercy and love pursued me,
With cries of his redeeming blood.

4. But like Bartimeus I was blinded,
In nature's darkest night concealed;
But Jesus' kindness removed my blindness,
And he his pardoning love revealed.

5. Now I will praise him while he spares me,
And with God's people sing aloud;
Though hell oppose, and sinners mock me,
With songs of rapture I'll praise my God.

6. By faith I join the heavenly concert,
They sing aloud their Savior's love;
O! with desire my heart's on fire;
Fain would I shout with those above.

7. The happy day is fast approaching
When Christ in glorious clouds shall come,
With sounding trumpets and shouting angels,
To take each faithful follower home.

8. There’s Abraham, Isaac, and all the prophets,
With holy seraphs at God's right hand;
There saints and angels join in concert,
Shout as they enter the promised land.

3. Now I will praise him, he spares me,
And with his people sing aloud;
Though opposed, and sinners mock me,
In rapturous songs I'll praise my God.
