Hi Barry, Great to see this score on CPDL. However I think the altos are to high in bar(measure) 3 and 4. Checking against other editions the altos should finish on a F in bar 4 and not the B flat which clashes with the Sops.

Thanks! In the score I used (p. 28, numbered page 30), Upper Alto in mm. 3-4 is Aflat-Aflat-Bflat-Bflat. Yes, that is a bit dissonant with the Discant (Upper C-Bflat-Aflat-Aflat, Lower Aflat-G-Aflat-Aflat), but I believe it is in the character of the piece. There are several others, look at m. 15, for example; also mm. 42, 45. It may be a mistake in the score I'm using; but I take it to be authentic, since it was published in Russia during Tchaikovsky's lifetime. What edition are you looking at? (P. S. Please sign your post with four tildes). Cheers — Barry Johnston (talk) 20:02, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi Barry, Tchaikovsky four anthems edited by Jennifer Baker publisher Basil Ramsey, http://www.musicarussica.com/uploads/sheet_music_pieces/pdf_samples/585/Ta040.pdf?1331141354, show the F. I agree that the IMSLP version shows a discord. Jennifer Baker quotes the Jurgenson 1878 edition as her source and that she corrected a small number of errors in the score. With respect to mm 15, 42 and 45 Baker follows the Jurgenson edition, where the discords immediately resolve themselves which is not the case with m 4. Also the piano reduction in m 4 in the original score shows a A-flat, F which does not agree with the voice parts. IanHaslam (talk) 22:01, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Okay, I will change it. Good point about the piano reduction -- I should have noticed that. Thanks, Ian, for pointing this out. — Barry Johnston (talk) 22:48, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
