Comunion

Is this an olde spellinge for communion, or just a typo? —Carlos Email.gif 04:03, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Just a typo, I think. Jamesgibb 21:21, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for replying; in this case I'll move the page to the correct title. —Carlos Email.gif 21:50, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Does anyone know if there was a Gloria in this setting and if there is where I can get a copy? Our choir has been using the Richard Proulx (GIA) edition and it utilizes the (now banned) post Vatican II modern text. Dwalczak 09 February 2012.

Yes, Batten's original setting is for the Creed, Gloria and Sanctus only.Benwiggy (talk) 06:35, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Kyrie

The C sharp in bar 15 of the Soprano line should probably be a D sharp, given the D natural at the end of the bar.

Sanctus

The final note of the bass should be an E, rather than a C. Jamesgibb 21:22, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Copyright status?

The Nine-fold Kyrie, Benedictus and Agnus Dei used in the editions of Gibb and Fowler seem to match the contrafacta arrangements by Maurice Bevan (d. 2006) of other parts of Batten's Short Service (Venite, Psalms, Benedicite, etc) in his 1959 OUP edition. The edition by Crookall uses a different contrafactum Agnus.

"The editor, by adapting music from other parts of Batten's service, has provided settings of the Nine-fold Kyrie, Benedictus qui venit and Agnus Dei" -- back cover.

So there might be a copyright issue with using his arrangements. I note that none of the editions have cited any source material. Benwiggy (talk) 06:36, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
