French text Un jour Robin alloit aux champs, jouant galant au tour de sa bouteille, mettant souvent le nez dedans, riant des dents que c'étoit grande merveille. Le piot lui sembla si bon qui prit serpette et serpillon pour vendanger la treille. Et puis reprit son boutillon pour mieux fourrer son coquillon du vin à une oreille.

English translation Once to the vineyard Robin went Playing a dandy with his flask of wine, Snuffling his jug like some fine gent, And chortling at his own punchline. The plonk seemed to him so godsent He took out his knives with intent To harvest for himself a vine. Again o’er his bottle he bent Better to make a bigger dent In such a splendid wine.
