Description: A setting of the Genealogy of Christ according to Luke's Gospel. In some lectionaries, it is the assigned Gospel reading for January 6th when Epiphany is celebrated on the 7th or 8th. A contrasting list from Matthew, assigned to Christmas Matins, was set by Josquin as Liber generationis Jesu Christi.

Latin text Factum est autem, cum baptizaretur omnis populus, et Jesu baptizato et orante, apertum est cælum: et descendit Spiritus Sanctus corporali specie sicut columba in ipsum: et vox de cælo facta est: Tu es Filius meus dilectus, in te complacuit mihi. |
English translation Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” |
