Latin text Inter natos mulierum non surrexit maior Iohanne Baptista qui viam Domini praeparavit in heremo. Alleluia. Variant 1 Fuit homo missus a Deo cui nomen erat Iohannes, qui viam Domini praeparavit in heremo. Variant 2 Ecce Agnus Dei, qui tollit peccata mundi.

English translation Among those born of women there arose none greater than John the Baptist who prepared the way of the Lord in the wilderness. Alleluia. Variant 1 A man was sent by God whose name was John, who prepared the way of the Lord in the wilderness. Variant 2 Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.
