General Information

Title: Missa sine nomine a 12
Composer: Hans Leo Hassler
Lyricist:

Number of voices: 12vv   Voicing: SSSAAATTTBBB

Genre: SacredMass

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1600

Description: Kyrie - Gloria - Credo - Sanctus & Benedictus - Agnus Dei

The mass is written for multiples of a four part choir, with the exception of Kyrie eleison I and Christe eleison, which are written for five-part choirs. It is suggested that the quintus parts (V) (clearly labelled for reasons below) are taken by singers from choir III (unutilised at this juncture). The choir II quintus part (both sections) is missing from the source, and has been reconstructed editorially. Instruments may be used to replace or reinforce the voices, in the Venetian manner.
