German text Wann unsre Augen schlafen ein, so laß das Herz doch wacker sein, halt über uns dein rechte Hand, daß wir nicht falln in Sünd und Schand. (Verse 3 of Christe, du bist der helle Tag, Alber's 1536 paraphrase of Christe qui lux es et dies)

English translation by Richard Mix When our eyes close in sleep let our hearts yet be stout, and stretch out thy right hand over us lest we fall into sin and scandal.
