Dell’aspra doglia vinto
Il misero Giacinto
Quando dell’Alba l’Aura
Ch’ogni suo mal restaura
Con un grato sorriso
Gli apri di vita un dolce paradiso
E dissi anima mia
Vivi respira e sia
Rimedio al gran dolore
La tua gioia il mio amore.

German translation

Es war nah daran zu sterben,
von bitterem Kummer zermürbt,
der unglückselige Hyazinth,
als der Morgenröte Hauch,
der all seine Not heilt,
mit einem beglückenden Lächeln
ihm ein süßes Paradies des Lebens öffnete,
und sprach: mein Leben,
lebe, atme, und es sei
Heilung für den großen Schmerz
deine Lust, meine Liebe.

Nearly dying
of bitter sorrow
was poor Hyacinthus,
when Aurora’s breeze,
that heals all his woe,
with a gracious smile,
opened for him a sweet paradise of life
and spoke: my life,
live, respire, and let be
healing for your great distress
your delight, my love.
