Biography

Frederick Westlake was born in Romsey, Hampshire, England. He trained at the Royal Academy of Music, studying under Walter Cecil Macfarren and George Alexander Macfarren. He was appointed to the piano faculty of the R.A.M., and was a member of the Philharmonic Society and the Society of Musicians. He published “The Popular hymn and tune book, for one, two, three and four voices.” He died in Marylebone, London. His compositions include several Masses, hymns, piano pieces, organ pieces, songs, and part-songs.
