Biography
James Charles Beazley was born in Alum Bay, Isle of Wight, at the Royal Needles Hotel where his father was proprietor. He trained at the Royal Academy of Music, studying under of Sir William Sterndale Bennett, for whom he subsequently acted as private secretary. He was Music Master at Sherborne School, Dorset, and organist at the Minster, then was at Romsey Abbey. He to his native Island and settled at Ryde as a teacher of music. He served as organist and choirmaster at the Congregational Church, Ryde, Violin Master at the Royal Naval College, Osborne, and Borough Accompanist. He was lame for many of his last years from an accident as he pursued his hobby of fishing. He died on the Isle of Wight. His compositions include oratorios, pieces for piano, pieces for sing instruments, songs and part-songs.
