Christmas carol
The divine child, promised long ago,
has been born in the Holy Land.
The Lord God lies in a stable, on straw.
Outside, the Cherubim sing
the supremely beautiful heavenly hymn:
Gloria in excelsis Deo.
The shepherds, alongside their sheep,
have been woken from a deep sleep,
to hear the angels joyfully
announce the birth of baby Jesus.
Outside, the Cherubim sing…
Go to the stable outside the gate.
You will find the word of heaven, promised long ago,
on the straw in a manger:
he who will take away the sins
and pain of the world.
