Un jeune militaire,
Revenant de guerre,
Cherchant ses amours ; 

S'il les a tant cherchées,
Les a bien trouvées
Au fond d'une tour.

"Oh ! c'est mon très cher père
Qui me tient prisonnière
Dedans cette tour.

"Son père en colère
la prend et l'emmène,
Dans l'eau l'a jetée,

Mais le galant aimable
Se mit à la nage,
L'en a retirée.

À la deuxième ville,
Son amant l'habille
En or, en argent,

La troisième ville,
Son amant l'habille
En épousement,

En lui disant : "Ma mie, 
Viens je t'en supplie
À mon beau régiment !"
