English text
Awake, my love, the morn is breaking,
Gloomy night doth fold her wings;
And the lark, his nest forsaking,
Blithe "good morrow" loudly sings;
Rosy clouds the east adorning,
Deck the earth with glorious sheen.
Rise, my love, 'tis joyous morning,
And the flow'rs await their Queen!
Awake, my love!
Come, my love! the air rejoices,
Thrushes warble, wild bees hum;
Leaf and stream, with winsome voices
Seem to murmur, "Come, come, come!"
Ah! from lattice coyly peeping,
Two bright eyes salute the day,
Now my heart with joy is leaping,
For she comes, my "Queen of May!"
She comes, my Queen of May!
