Lo! the glad May morn
With her rosy light is breaking
O’er the hill so lovely and fair;
And the pure young buds,
From the dewy sleep awaking,
Mirth and music float in the air.

Then away, then away,
And a-Maying we will go!

O’er the rustic wild
Where the idle winds are blowing,
We will roam with pleasure today;
On the mossy bank,
Where the crystal brook is flowing;
We will crown our Queen of May.

Oh! the glad May morn!
Like a child she comes to meet us,
With her brow all covered with flowers;
And she call the birds,
All the merry birds, to greet us,
And the laughing, bright summer hours.
