Biography
Theodore Stearns was born in Berea, Ohio. He was well known as an opera and musical comedy conductor in the early twentieth century. He composed a number of operas and his opera Snowbird was the first American opera to be premiered in Europe. It was produced in Dresden and won the Bispham Memorial Medal Award. He was a music critic and commentator in Chicago and New York, and taught music at UCLA.
